FAVOURITES · May

Apologies for the lack of posts, I am coming up to the end of my degree so have a lot of work to finish up, so again sorry to all zero of my readers. Here are my favourite things from over the course of May. Any images that are not my own click through to their original sources and I have tried to be as comprehensive with the links as I can so you can find more info, outlets where to buy products and where to watch/listen/consume anything else.

Lemonade (Music)
This is probably such a cliché to but on this month's favourites as I am sure it is on almost everyone else's but how could you not put a new Beyoncé album on your favourites? Tracks that stand out for me are Hold Up, Don't Hurt Yourself, 6 Inch and Freedom (even as I write this I feel should add more to that list).

Love (Television)
Netflix Originals are almost always a winner in my books and this one lived up to my expectations. It is probably easy to dismiss the show just because of it's name but I wouldn't describe it as a completely cliché show about romance. I really love the humour in this show, unfortunately as with all Netflix shows I binged too fast and now have to wait a year for more episodes.
High Waisted Washed Look Shorts (Fashion)
These are here because I feel like I have spent so much time looking for a new pair of shorts and finally have found the right ones with these. In my quest I found that all the shorts in the shops I looked in are way too short, fine if you want that but I just wanted some slightly longer ones, then ones that were almost long enough that were high waisted wouldn't fit right on the waist but would fit on the hips. So here they are just in time for summer and to make this find even sweeter I got them with a 20% discount.

Completely (Music)
This is the first Alpines song after their debut album Oasis and unsurprisingly it is amazing. I can't wait for the next album to come and maybe I'll catch them live again soon, despite living in London I have only managed to get to one oops.

FAVOURITES · April

Here are my favourite things from over the course of April. Any images that are not my own click through to their original sources and I have tried to be as comprehensive with the links as I can so you can find more info, outlets where to buy products and where to watch/listen/consume anything else.

Girls (Television)
I think series five might have been one of my favourite series of Girls. I think it may have been because of the distance, literally and figuratively, between the Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shosh has made it perhaps more interesting than previous series for me.
This Is What The Truth Feels Like (Music)
Finally after waiting for 10 years for another solo Gwen Stefani album it is finally here. I can't help but listen to it every time in its entirety however stand out tracks for me are Where Would I Be?, Make Me Like You and Obsessed. (PS Gwen just released tour dates with support from Eve - amazing - but no UK dates c'mon Gwen!)

Dysh (App)
Even though this will probably sound like I am sponsored (yeah right) or am just trying to gain followers, I legit love this app (although if you want to follow me my handle is @heatherw). Whilst I haven't taken many pics of food I have eaten out recently I am posting some older pics just so I can join in. I mean who doesn't want to look at pics of food? My only gripe is that you are only able to post Dyshes local to the area you are currently in if you use Android, which is a bit annoying for someone living between Somerset and London.
eat: The little book of fast food (Book)
This is a really nice cookbook from Nigel Slater, both aesthetically with it's clothbound cover and simple layout but also with it's wonderful recipes. The book features a melange of small and slightly longer recipes, all of them just having the right measure of simplicity without compromise. I can't wait to make so many of the recipes in the book!

Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig (Podcast)
I've watched Grace's YouTube videos for a while now and after seeing a few clips from the podcast I decided it was finally time to start listening to her podcast. I started from the very beginning and am now up to episode 22, at the time of writing. Grace as always is totally hilarious and even makes me want to listen to episodes which feature guests I don't follow or know.

FAVOURITES · March

Here are my favourite things from over the course of March. Any images that are not my own click through to their original sources and I have tried to be as comprehensive with the links as I can so you can find more info, outlets where to buy products and where to watch/listen/consume anything else.

Raised By Wolves (Television)
Back for a second series, without a doubt one of the funniest shows I have watched in the past few years. The show's premise takes inspiration from the writers', Caitlin and Caroline Moran, youth. Unfortunately as with all the greatest British shows there is only six episodes per series.

Dark Places (Book)
Although I started this at the start of December in my own true fashion I left it for a few months before picking it up again and reading it properly. This is the second book (third if you include The Grownup) by Gillian Flynn I have read. As with Gone Girl, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it kept me gripped through its entirety. Although I am not sure on my feelings about the final course of events of the story, without any spoilers I will say that maybe its wrapping up was all a bit too convenient.

Lip Glossy (Beauty)
As someone that rarely wears make-up it is perhaps odd that I have a piece in my favourites for this month. I got the Rosie for Autograph Lip Glossy in the colour Sweet Nothing Kisses, which is quite close to my normal lip colour therefore it gives my natural colour a bit more vibrancy and shine than normal. Although its name is Lip Glossy it doesn't have the shine you'd associate with a lipgloss, it is much more subtle like a lipstick which is personally a bonus. I think I might have to venture out to another colour as I would like something a bit different than my natural lip colour.

25 (Music)
Naturally as I saw her in March (see my post about it here) I listened to a lot of Adele leading up to and after the concert. Personal highlights on the album are Million Years Ago, River Lea and I Miss You.

Barbican Conservatory (Place)
After hearing about the conservatory a while ago I have really wanted to visit it. I have never been to the Barbican at all before but went on my birthday weekend. I really enjoyed the vast variety of plants in amongst the brutalist architecture of the Barbican. I will have to visit again soon and perhaps catch a film or an exhibition at the Barbican Centre whilst I'm there.

FAVOURITES · February

Here are my favourite things from over the course of February. Any images that are not my own click through to their original sources and I have tried to be as comprehensive with the links as I can so you can find more info, outlets where to buy products and where to watch/listen/consume anything else.

30 Rock (Television)
Even though it ended 3 years ago I have only just started watching 30 Rock properly, taking over my choice of Netflix binge from my The Office/Parks and Rec/Arrested Development never-ending cycle.

Happy Valley (Television)
After what felt like an eternity, Happy Valley finally came back for a second series. Sarah Lancashire plays Catherine Cawood, one of the best female characters on screen at the moment - perfect for those who are missing their fix of The Fall!

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask by The Body Shop (Beauty)
Whereas I don't consider myself as someone who has a beauty regime, I have started to wear face masks regularly. This is the one I have been most frequently using and always leaves my skin feeling super soft.

Make Me Like You - Gwen Stefani (Music)
Gwen, Gwen, Gwen - I can't believe you are finally back with not only another new solo single but an album coming soon to back it up with!  I'll forgive you for taking so long as it comes out on my birthday (18/03) however I am still holding on for some UK live dates!

Swimming (Activity)
At the start of the last academic year I said that myself that I would go swimming at least once a week, naturally that never happened. Now, over a year later, I am trying to do that again. Swimming is the one of the few forms of exercise where I can exert myself but still feel great afterwards.  I can't wait to use my Misfit Speedo Shine in the pool (which I keep forgetting), it is always surprising how far you have actually swam when you count how many laps you've done. Last time I swam 50 laps which is 1.25km!
